Stevenson PACT is a parent participation choice school. This means parents are expected to volunteer for the school 2 hours a week, typically in the classroom. This volunteering supports teachers through small group instruction and classroom management. It is also an opportunity for parents to build a deeper connection with their child and their community.
In addition to classroom support, many of the programs supported at Stevenson PACT rely on parents. This includes Off-Site Learning Experiences (OLEs), Gardening, Cooking, Arts Focus, as well as community building events such as Rocket Day, Trunk or Treat. None of these would be possible without parents support.
Becoming part of the Stevenson community means you are in a partnership with not just the teachers and staff but also with each other. PACT stands for Parent and Child Teacher. This partnership ensures that students have access to small group activities, off-site learning oppurtunities and teachers are able to provide their time and energy to focus on a smaller groups of students.
So many of Stevenson PACT’s unique programs — from Arts Focus and Cooking to Gardening, ImPACT, and Off-Site Learning Experiences (OLEs) — rely on parent volunteers. These hands-on opportunities are what make our PACT model so special and meaningful for our students.
To volunteer on campus or help during classroom activities, all adults need to be badged through the MVWSD volunteer process. This ensures a safe environment for all our students.
